I bring to the table the experience of over 40 years working with small businesses on their accounting and tax
needs, including working for more than a decade as both a controller and a CFO for two different companies.
Ken Riter, CPA
I have worked as a CPA for four decades, in public accounting and in industry as a controller
and a CFO. The experience gained from working with nearly 100 different companies
during my career has enabled me to acquire the skills necessary to provide in-depth analysis
and advice to a variety of small businesses.
I graduated from the University of Utah with a BS in Accounting and became licensed
as a certified public accountant in 1982. After working at local CPA firms for 6 years,
I began my first public accounting practice, which I operated for another 5 years.
During that time, I also worked as an accounting manager for a main client, and after
the breakup of that company, I worked as a controller for a local high-end furniture retailer.
Over the next 7 years, I built the accounting department of that company from the ground up
and helped guide the company from $5 million to $20 million in annual revenue.
The company then successfully merged with another company, enabling this company's
owners' early retirement.
At this point, I acquired another public accounting practice, which I operated for 15 years. I worked with dozens of
small businesses and business owners on everything from tax planning and preparation to financial planning and analysis.
I prepared thousands of tax returns. I then went to work as CFO for one of my biggest clients. Here I also built
the accounting system from the ground up and assisted in the company's growth from $5 million to $20 million.
The company was acquired by a large Fortune 500 company, and I separated from the company.
I am excited now to bring my deep experience and capabilities to a few select small businesses, to provide them with
essential fractional CFO or Controller-type services to assist them in moving forward toward their
short and long-term financial goals!
